Stars of the small screen on Ackley Bridge

If you watched the first episode of new school drama Ackley Bridge on Channel 4 last night, you will have seen lots of Ryburn faces amongst the school students on screen, many as extras and some in supporting roles.

Our Drama department, working with professional casting agents, pursued the opportunity for students to take part in the show in order to get a taste of the reality of a tv shoot. From wardrobe and make up to directors and actors, students got first hand experience of meeting people in a range of industry careers and saw what goes into filming a tv show.

Drama teacher Ms Bozzo said: "It was a really fun and worthwhile experience to get involved in. The issues raised by the storyline, about the coming together and clash of two cultures and communities in one school were also a great starting point for thinking about tolerance and mutual respect."

Look out for the forthcoming Autumn issue of VIBE magazine to read students' thoughts on their time on set.
