Just Keep Pedalling.
Year 7 student Elsie Hughes recently appeared on BBC Look North for her participation in the Yorkshire Cyclocross Series. Watch the video below.
Elsie previously appeared on Look North when she was in primary school as she had a bespoke cycling prosthetic made. Since then her prosthetic and bike have been adapted further to improve her overall comfort and performance.
Cyclocross runs in the family as Elsie’s older brother George (Year 9) also participates in the sport and so do their parents. She thoroughly enjoys the activity as she told us that it makes her happy, she enjoys taking part with her friends and of course, the mud is fun too.
Her talent and training are noted in the video and Elsie shows a strong work ethic both in and out of the classroom. Elsie is a true inspiration to students and her message to anyone considering taking up cyclocross is that “anyone can do it, no matter who you are.”
Elsie and George are both racing in Kent this weekend in the National Cyclocross Trophy Race and we are all wishing them the best of luck.
